Original vintage World War Two poster titled German Army Uniforms and Insignia, produced for educational and intelligence purposes. The poster provides a detailed visual guide to the uniforms, headgear, collar patches, shoulder straps, and rank insignia of the German Army, with particular attention to both Field Uniforms and Afrika Korps Uniforms. On the left side, a soldier is depicted wearing the Field Uniform of a 2nd Lieutenant in the Artillery, while the right side features a soldier in the Afrika Korps Uniform of a Lance Corporal. Both figures are shown in full colour, flanked by illustrated examples of rank markings, collar patches, and national emblems such as the Wehrmacht eagle and swastika insignia. The centre of the poster displays a chart of Additional Rank Insignia, showcasing the colored bars and pips used to denote various ranks from Field Marshal down to Lance Corporal. Shoulder straps and collar patches are illustrated for both Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers and Men, covering different branches such as Infantry, Artillery, Tank Troops, and Medical Corps. The reverse of the poster features Newsmaps: Monday, February 15, 1943, an informative poster for military orientation and public awareness, visually summarising the global status of the war across multiple fronts. The top half features a colour-coded world map, highlighting the Axis-controlled territories in red, Allied-controlled areas in green, and zones where fighting was actively occurring, crosshatched. Dotted blue lines indicate significant naval supply and communication routes, while icons pinpoint strategic combat zones and military operations across Europe, North Africa, the Pacific, and Asia. Inset boxes on the map call out key events and troop movements, such as: Russian Front developments, North African Campaign progress, and Pacific engagements in the Solomons and New Guinea. On the bottom half, the poster provides detailed textual and photographic updates from various war fronts: The War Fronts section reports military operations in Europe, the Pacific, and Africa. Photographs include Allied generals, U.S. troops in the Pacific, and strategic bombing imagery. A detailed map of the Eastern Front USSR shows the German-Soviet lines and battle areas. A sidebar titled "Vital Supply: Water for the Eighth Army" explains the logistics and importance of supplying water to Allied forces in North Africa. The poster is part of the "Newsmap" series (Volume II, No. 43), a weekly publication intended to educate American military personnel and civilians on the state of the global conflict. Its mix of cartography, photography, and analysis makes it a compelling artefact of wartime information dissemination. Horizontal. Large size. Fair condition, folds, creasing, staining, tears, pinholes, small paper losses, red pencil marks, double sided. Country of issue: USA, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 88x119, year of printing: 1943.
