Original vintage WWII Newsmap for the Armed Forces on 293rd Week of War - 175th Week of U.S. Participation, dated Monday 23, April, 1945 - Week of 10 April to 17 April - Volume IV No. 1F. This double sided issue provides up to date information on the major war battles and events of the last week covering vast territories with map inserts of Okinawa Japan Battle Rages, Liberation of Vienna by the Soviet Armies, Leipzig outflanked, Dresden threatened, and Elbe River crossed, Allied troops compressed the Ruhr pocket, American Armies hammered ahead against the corridor separating the Allies in the west from the Red Army, and Italian Offensive; the reverse of the poster celebrates 3rd Anniversary of WAC - Women' Army Corps, established in 1942, with photographs of Army doctors reconditioning wounded men, teletype operators, pilot training, dispatching directional bearings, handling communications for the historic Cairo Conference, performing secretarial and clerical duties, the first contingent of Fifth Army WACs debarking from an LST in Italy, a WAC detachment arriving at an airstrip in the Philippines, and a caricature of two women washing clothes in the river by hand, with South East Asian style house, a jeep, and palm trees in the background.
