Original vintage anti-Communist propaganda poster - Help Stop Communism. Join the 'Minutemen' an organisation of loyal Americans dedicated to the preservation of both national and individual freedom - featuring an image of a soldier, the text below reads - Insist on a strong stand by our own government against communism -- in Cuba as well as in Vietnam, Demand that we stop sending supplies to Russia and her communist satellites while American boys are being killed in Vietnam by Russian bullets - clean out the traitors and parasites in our own federal bureaucracy. Be prepared to help stop armed communist invasion or violent revolution. For further information on the Minutemen organization, send a stamped self-addressed envelope to PO Box 482 Bristol, Connecticut. - The Minutemen was an anti-communist, nativist militia formed in the early 1960s by Robert DePugh, a biochemist from Missouri. Structured in small cells, the group stockpiled weapons in preparation for a counter-revolution and claimed around 12,000 members by 1961. DePugh published a guerrilla warfare pamphlet and ran the group’s newsletter, On Target. He co-founded the Patriotic Party in 1966. That same year, DePugh was arrested on federal weapons charges (later dismissed). After a bombing of the group’s offices in 1967, he resigned. In 1968, he was indicted for conspiracy to commit bank robbery and firearms violations, fled, and was captured in 1969. Convicted in 1970, he was released in 1973. Later, he wrote a survivalist manual, Can You Survive?, and briefly aligned with the Liberty Lobby. Fair condition, paper losses, tears, creasing, staining, tape in bottom left corner. Country of issue: USA, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 30.5x21, year of printing: 1960s.
