Oil on panel cm. 40,5x29,5.L’opera si presenta in stretta connessione con il Cristo crocifisso di Federico Barocci, conosciuto in tre versioni rispettivamente conservate al Museo del Prado a Madrid, nella chiesa dell’Ospedale a Urbania e già presso la Whitfield Fine Arts di Londra. Barocci tenne in particolare considerazione questa immagine del volto di Cristo, che impiegò autonomamente nelle due versioni autografe presso la Chiesa del Gesù a Perugia (tela, cm 41x29) e già in asta Finarte Milano il 16 Maggio 2007, lotto 8 (rame, cm 44x30), con le quali il nostro esemplare mostra chiare affinità stilistiche e qualitative.
