Serial number 239028, .45-70 caliber, blued steel barrel with 'V,' 'P' and eagle head proof marks at the breech and adjustable rear sight, case colored door marked 'US/MODEL/1884'; blued flat lock plate marked with a spread wing eagle and 'U.S./SPRINGFIELD'; walnut stock with 'SWP/1889' cartouche on the left side; blued steel trigger guard, butt plate marked 'U.S.' on the tang and blued bands marked 'U'; blued steel rammer and sling swivels; blued locking ring bayonet marked 'US' on the blade and blued steel scabbard with leather and brass frog.
