KIM FISHER (B. 1973) Study for Dune, 2023 signed, titled and dated (on the reverse) oil on cement on hand dyed linen 14 x 15 1/2 in. 35.6 x 39.4 cm. Footnotes: Provenance Courtesy of the artist Artist statement: Kim Fisher (b.1973) lives and works in Los Angeles. Fisher received a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MFA from Otis College of Art, Los Angeles. Fisher exhibits extensively within America as well as internationally, selected solo exhibitions include: Midway Contemporary Art, Minneapolis (2003); John Connelly Presents, New York (2010); 'Angus', China Art Objects, Los Angeles, (2013); 'Dirty Kitchen', The Modern Institute, Glasgow (2014); 'A Little Bit of But' LAXART, Los Angeles (2016); 'If...we', Shane Campbell Gallery, Chicago (2017). Fisher has presented work in the California Biennial and Whitney Biennial (both 2004). In 2014, the artist participated in the Hammer Museum's 'Made in LA', curated by Connie Butler and Michael Ned Holte; and in 2018, Fisher exhibited within 'This Brush for Hire' at the ICA, Los Angeles, curated by Meg Cranston and John Baldessari. In 2019 she was the recipient of both the California Community Fellowship Award and the COLA (City of Los Angeles) Individual Artist Grant. In 2022-23, Fisher's work was included in Joan Didion: What She Means at the Hammer Museum, an exhibition as portrait of the late American writer, Joan Didion, co-curated by Hilton Als and Connie Butler. She has been an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate Fine Art Department at Art Center College of Design since 2005 and a visiting faculty member in the Fine Art Department at UCLA since 2007. In 2023, Fisher exhibited alongside artist and longtime partner Florian Morlat in the exhibition, Wrong Number, at GattoPardo, Los Angeles.
