Deux gobelets en verre églomisé, Bohémie, vers 1730-50 Two Bohemian Zwischengoldglas beakers, circa 1730-50 Of finely fluted tapering shape and double-walled, painted in colours on silver foil, one with a continuous landscape scene depicting four male figures emblematic of the Seasons, Spring with a basket of flowers, Summer with a sickle, Autumn harvesting grapes, and Winter beside two log fires, the ruby base with a flower, 9cm high, the other with a lady and gentleman with a pageboy in a formal garden with balustrades, a fountain and urns of flowers, the ruby base with a vase of flowers, 8.3cm high (both with minor chips and some discolouration, larger beaker with crack to base) (2) Footnotes: For a similar polychrome Zwischengoldglas beaker decorated with figures emblematic of the Seasons in the Ernesto Wolf Collection, see Brigitte Klesse and Hans Mayr, European Glass from 1500-1800, 1987, no.204, where other similar examples in collections and museums are cited.
