Boîte en écaille, or et composition, XVIIe, à miniature sur ivoire figurant une allégorie, signée Sumptoi A late 18th century tortoiseshell, lacquer and gold portrait box, miniature signed Sumpto Round shaped, the lid is set with a miniature on ivory, depicting an allegory of water, signed 'Sumptoi'. The artist may have been Jean François de Sompsois (1720-1808), a French painter and draughtsman specialising in pastels, diameter 7.8cm, weight (gross) 84gms. Footnotes: This lot is accompanied by a CIC. This lot is subject to CITES regulations. It is the buyer's responsibility to investigate such regulations and to obtain any necessary import or export certificates for export outside the European Union. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first €40,000 of the Hammer Price
27% from €40,001 to €800,000 the Hammer Price
21% from €800,001 to €4,500,000 the Hammer Price
14.5% on the excess over €4,500,000 of the Hammer Price

A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
