Quatre gobelets en verre églomisé, Bohémie, vers 1730-50 Four interesting Bohemian Zwischengoldglas beakers, circa 1730-50 Of finely fluted tapering cylindrical form, all internally decorated with fine gilding between the double-walls, the largest finely decorated with a battle scene, possibly after G P Rugendas, with two gentleman on horseback aiming their pistols at one another, a further horseman engaged in a sword fight with another, with two deceased figures on the ground, inscribed 'VOR GROSZER KRIGES/ GEFAHR UNSZ GOTT BEWAHR' (May God save us from Danger before a great war) above, the ruby base with trophies of war, 8.7cm high (shallow rim chip), the others comprising one with a stag hunt, the ruby base with hounds devouring a hare, 8.2cm high, one with a hare hunt, the ruby base with hounds chasing a stag, 9.9cm high (rim chips), and one with two figures with a fishing net before horsemen and a hound, within silver leaf borders, the ruby base with hounds chasing a stag, 7.3cm high (minor rim chips and base distressed) (4) Footnotes: Compare these examples to the beaker illustrated by Rudolf von Strasser and Sabine Bäumgartner, Licht und Farbe, 2002, p.452, no.296.
