Gobelet gravé, Potsdam, vers 1700 A fine Potsdam engraved beaker, circa 1700 Of thick-walled tapering cylindrical shape, finely decorated with three garlands of fruit and flowers hung from ribbons, flanked by rosette-like pendants formed of polished circlets embellished with leaves, all between borders of polished lenses, the underside cut with a rosette and later engraved with the initials 'F V G' in diamond-point, 9.9cm high Footnotes: Provenance: With Michael Klewer, 11 April 1987 Christian von Reitzenstein Collection A very similar beaker is illustrated by Rudolf von Strasser, Licht und Farbe, 2002, pp.313-4, no.187, where it is suggested that the engraving may be the work of Martin Winter in Potsdam. The attribution is based on a faceted beaker engraved with garlands of fruit in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, which has been suggested to be the work of Winter between 1680 and 1702, see Robert Schmidt, Brandenburgische Gläser, 1914, taf.12(1).
