Published to celebrate the centennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition, Thwaite assembled the most complete and impressive publications relating to Lewis and Clark. The present octavo version was issued alongside a deluxe limited folio edition of 50 copies on imperial japan paper and a limited folio of 200 copies printed on Van Gelder hand-made paper.
