AN AMERICAN FLINTLOCK MILITIA MUSKET AND BAYONET, last quarter of the 18th century. 42 in., .80 caliber Liege-made British Ordnance barrel with partial Tower Ordnance-style proof mark on the top of the breech and 'IG' within a sunken cartouche on the left side; British Ordnance-style lock with double line border engraving and defaced markings; maple stock; brass furniture including a butt plate with a stepped tang, Land Pattern-style trigger guard with acorn finial, Land Pattern-style flat side plate with long tail, three sheet brass rammer pipe and a sheet brass entry pipe; sling swivels, steel rammer with button head and plain end; the socket bayonet with brazed socket marked '14' at the slot. Overall lg. 58 1/4 in. Condition: Barrel and lock are toned to brown and reconverted; stock has a reattached piece at the forward part of the lock mortice and scattered dings, dents and scratches; brass toned to yellow, action functions properly.
