A PATTERN 1777 DUTCH INFANTRY MUSKET, c. 1777-90. 40 1/2 in., .69 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech; convex lock plate marked 'THONE/AMSTERDAM'; walnut stock; brass furniture including a butt plate with flat stepped tang, oval thumb piece, trigger guard with acorn finial, flat 'S' side plate, two small and one large double barrel band, later steel rammer. Overall lg. 55 1/4 in. Condition: Barrel toned to brown, breech area shows evidence of cleaning and re-browning; lock is mottled gray; stock has an old scarf joint splice hidden by the upper barrel band, but it is possible that it was actually produced in this way; brass toned to yellow, action functions properly.
