AN AMERICAN FLINTLOCK MILITARY MUSKET, last quarter of the 18th century. 44 1/8 in., .75 caliber round barrel with trace of private Tower proof marks on the left side of the breech; slightly convex lock plate with pointed tail marked 'FARMER' below the pan; hard wood stock; brass furniture including a butt plate with a stepped and pointed tang, Land Pattern-style trigger guard with acorn finial, convex 'S' side plate, a nose cap, two cast brass rammer and a cast brass entry pipe, steel rammer with button head and jag end. Overall lg. 60 3/4 in. Condition: Barrel toned to brown with pitting in the vent area, muzzle possibly a little shortened, no obvious evidence of reconversion; lock is reconverted/restored; stock is spliced between middle and entry pipes and overall refinished; furniture toned to deep yellow/brown. action functions.
