Description
A DUTCH SHORT LAND PATTERN-STYLE FLINTLOCK MUSKET, likely Liege, c. 1770s. 41 5/8 in., .8 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech; lock plate with pointed tail, the inside marked 'LI' in a sunken rectangular cartouche; walnut stock with raised plateau around the breech plug tang; brass furniture of Land Pattern style including a butt plate with a short pointed tang, thumb piece, trigger guard with acorn finial, flat side plate with long tail, nose cap, three rammer pipes and an entry pipe, sling swivels, later steel rammer with button head and plain end. Overall lg. 57 1/2 in. Condition: Barrel and lock toned to mottled brown and with light pitting, stock has sliver losses along the barrel channel and scattered dings, dents and scratches, action functions properly.
