A REVOLUTIONARY WAR 'UNITED STATES' TWICE-SURCHARGED AMERICAN MILITARY MUSKET. 38 3/4 in., .75 caliber unmarked round barrel without a bayonet lug; flat French-style lock; walnut stock with large 'UNITED STATES' brand on the left side of the butt and a smaller 'UNITED STATES' brand on the underside of the butt; iron French Model 1763/66-style butt plate, trigger guard and side plate, two sheet brass rammer and a sheet brass entry pipe, narrow iron nose band extending around the barrel with blade front sight, iron rammer with button head and flattened end. Overall lg. 54 in. Condition: Barrel toned to mottled brown, likely reconverted; lock toned to brown and likely reconverted; stock has a glued break between the middle and entry pipes and evidence of an infilled band spring mortice, re-attached wood loss above the lock mortice and scattered dings and dents; furniture is toned to mottled brown, action functions properly.
