A fine and rare mid 19th century English month-going tripod timepiece with running seconds, thermometer and barometer Thomas Cole, retailed by Hunt & Roskell, London No. 1318 38 The case formed of three cylindrical rods set on a circular base, meeting at a point and inset with a plumb bob at the apex. The stepped circular base includes a thermometer and aneroid barometer in the recessed centre, supported by three adjustable hexagonal feet. The heavy silvered spherical pendulum bob secured below via Cole's pendulum-locking system. A 6-inch silvered circular Roman dial with cast bezel, signed 'Hunt & Roskell, London' above XII, with a minute ring surrounding narrow Roman chapters and blued steel hands. The symmetrical engraved centre set with a large subsidiary seconds dial. The month-going movement featuring arched tapered plates joined by cylindrical screwed pillars, a two-part backplate, a going barrel, and a deadbeat escapement. The pendulum suspended from the apex of the tripod, with fine regulation achieved by a sliding cylindrical weight on the rod, together with the original glass dome and brass winding key. 51cm (20 inches) high Footnotes: A similar clock is illustrated and described in J. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
