A very fine gilt and engraved brass mid 19th century month going tripod timepiece with barometer, thermometer, together with the original setting and winding key Thomas Cole, London, No.1882 71 The case formed of three cylindrical rods set on a circular base, meeting at an apex set with a silvered plumb bob, the stepped circular base engraved around the top edge and base plate set with a mercury thermometer and aneroid barometer in the recessed centre, the scale running from 28 to 31 inches and with seven weather predictions, the whole raised on three adjustable hexagonal feet; the heavy silvered spherical pendulum bob locked via Cole's ingenious pendulum-locking bar. The 6 inch silvered circular Roman dial with vacant retailers reserve above XII within the dotted minute ring, painted Roman chapters and blued steel hands over a florally engraved centre set with large subsidiary seconds dial. The month going movement with eight graduated pillars screwed through the plates, the large spring going barrel set in a separate shaped plate signed THOS COLE LONDON, 1882 71 below a smaller plate with deadbeat escapement, the pendulum with T-bar suspension and spherical bob reading against a silvered beat scale set into the locking bar. 50cms (19.5ins) high. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
