Description
A mid 18th century fruitwood table clock Thomas Chester, Gretworth The previously ebonised case surmounted by a handle over an inverted bell top and silk-backed side apertures with pierced wood frets, on a moulded base. The 6.25 inch arched brass dial signed in a silvered boss flanked by Indian mask spandrels, the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring framing the finely matted centre with mock pendulum, decorated date aperture and blued steel hands. The five-pillar twin gut (now wire) fusee movement with verge escapement striking on a bell, the backplate engraved with bold flowing foliate scrolls. Running and striking, sold together with a crank winder and two door keys. 45cms (17.75ins) high. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
