A FINE AND RARE MID 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH MONTH-GOING TRIPOD TIMEPIECE WITH RUNNING SECONDS, THERMOMETER AND BAROMETER Thomas Cole, retailed by Mackay Cunningham & Co., Edinburgh. No. 1328 / 39 The case formed of three cylindrical rods set on a circular base, meeting in a point and inset with a plumb bob at the apex, the stepped circular base set with a thermometer and aneroid barometer in the recessed centre, over three adjustable hexagonal feet; the heavy silvered spherical pendulum bob locked via Cole's ingenious pendulum-locking system below. The silvered circular Roman dial with cast bezel, signed Mackay Cunningham & Co., Edinburgh above XII the minute ring framing the narrow Roman chapters and blued steel hands over a florally engraved centre set with the large subsidiary seconds dial. The month going movement with arched tapered plates joined by cylindrical screwed pillars, two part backplate, going barrel, dead beat escapement and pendulum suspended from the apex of the tripod, with fine-regulation achieved via a sliding cylindrical weight on the rod, 49.5cms (19.5 ins) high Footnotes: A similar clock is illustrated and described in J. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
