THREE GEM-SET BROOCHES 1st: Lizard in shell brooch, last quarter of 19th century Shell Seed pearls, one deficient Red gemstone cabochons Length 3.5cm 2nd: Cameo brooch, circa 1880 Carved hardstone depicting Bacchus in profile facing right Seed pearls, one deficient Cultured pearls Coral corallium rubrum Length 5.5cm 3rd: Enamel and gem-set steeplechase scene Articulated rider and horse Red, black and white enamel Old brilliant-cut and rose-cut diamonds, one deficient Old brilliant-cut diamonds, approx. 0.35ct total Red gemstone cabochons Length 3.7cm Total weight approx. 40.0g (3) Footnotes: Please note this lot will be subject to US Fish and Wildlife inspection if imported into the USA. OVERALL CONDITION Surface wear to the unhallmarked metal (testing as 1st: silver and gold, 2nd: 17ct gold, 3rd: silver and gold). Pin fittings partially bent but each secure. Spots of discolouration throughout; 2nd with solder present to reverse of brooch and pin fitting. 3rd with solder visible to reverse. 1st: One seed pearl deficient. Two untested gemstone cabochons depicting a reddish pink hue. 2nd: The coral displaying light pinkish orange to yellowish orange hues, with variation in tone. Typical structure throughout, visible under closer inspection, some polyp inclusions visible. One seed pearl deficient. Carved hardstone displaying a purplish pink hue with variation in tone and matrices visible. Some light scratches visible upon closer inspection. Yellow residue visible to some pearls, would benefit from professional cleaning. 3rd: Substantial losses to the metal including some wear down to metal base. Diamonds bright and lively. From 28 June 2025, the import into the EU of non-EU property of a certain age (and in some categories above a certain value) is subject to additional requirements. The refusal of any required Import Licence or Importer Statement, or any delay in obtaining such Licence or Statement shall not give rise to the rescission or cancellation of any Sale, nor allow any delay in making full payment for the Lot.
Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
