BLIGH (WILLIAM) A Narrative of the Mutiny, on Board His Majesty's Ship Bounty; and the Subsequent Voyage of Part of the Crew, in the Ship's Boat, from Tofoa, one of the Friendly Islands, to Timor, a Dutch Settlement in the East Indies, FIRST EDITION, 4 engraved plates and maps (3 folding), some off-setting from plate to facing leaf, untrimmed in original boards, some loss to spine, preserved in green morocco solander box (a few abrasions) [Ferguson 71; Hill 132; Kroepelien 87; Sabin 5908a; Wantrup 61], 4to (315 x 350mm.), George Nicol, 1790 Footnotes: Bligh's own account of the mutiny on the Bounty, 'one of the most remarkable incidents in the whole of maritime history' (Hill), written and published within months of his return to England. The work also includes the narrative of his subsequent journey when, set adrift with eighteen loyal crewmen, he sailed to safety, covering over three and a half thousand miles in six weeks, 'an extraordinary feat of seamanship' (Wantrup). Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
