FORSYTH (THOMAS D.) Report of a Mission to Yarkund in 1873, under Command of Sir T.D. Forsyth, K.C.S.I., C.B., Bengal Civil Service with Historical and Geographical Information regarding the Possessions of the Ameer of Yarkund, FIRST EDITION, 102 ALBUMEN PRINTS, captioned on the mounts, mounted two or more per page on recto only, lacking folding map, text leaves and photos browned (c.4 with light spotting, 1 with small wormhole), ex library copy, very worn, 4to, Calcutta [Kolkata], Foreign Department Press, 1875--Ost-Turkestan und das Pamir-Plateau nach den Forschungen der britischen Gesandtschaft unter Sir T.D.Forsyth 1873 und 1874, bearbeitet nach dem offiziellen Report of a Mission to Yarkund in 1873, one folding-map (loose), lacking wrappers, 4to, Gotha, Justus Perthes, 1877 (2) Footnotes: FINELY ILLUSTRATED WITH 102 ALBUMEN PRINTS, MOSTLY OF LOCAL INHABITANTS. In 1872 Forsyth was appointed plenipotentiary to Yarkand, after which he undertook an T expedition to the region, establishing 'the amir's commercial friendliness towards the British and amassed useful geographical, botanical, and ethnological information on the region. On his return in 1874 Forsyth was made KCSI and was subsequently elected a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society' (ODNB). Provenance: Punjab Government, ink stamp on title and on upper right corner of a further 3 pages. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
