PERSIA, TEHRAN - PHOTOGRAPHY Good album of photographs of Persia/Iran, including the British Legation (with Sir Percy Cox) in Tehran, festivities at the Nowruz Persian New Year, an Ashura Festival with devout Shia men self-flagellating and head-cutting (tatbir), views of a visit to petroglyphs, upwards of 260 gelatin silver prints (typically 80 x 100mm., or similar, a few smaller), mounted on 27 stiff card leaves, some captions on mount, morocco album, oblong 4to (270 x 370mm.), c.1919-1921 Footnotes: A album, compiled by a British diplomat associated with the British Legation at Tehran at the time that Sir Percy Cox (formerly the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf from 1904 to 1919) was Acting British Agent in the city from 1919-1921. During this period he was negotiating the Anglo-Iranian Agreement to allow oil drilling rights for the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. The album includes images of staff and VIPS (including showing Cox) with captions also identifying Seyyid Zia, Sultan Ali, and Haji Ahmad amongst local dignitaries; building and grounds of the British Legation, and important events such as the Nowruz Persian New Year, the Ashura Festival (18, including Shia men self-flagellating and the tatbir). Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
