So what better way to celebrate the Bologna marque's heritage than a limited edition model in the spirit of the iconic 750SS? And why not duplicate the rest of the original bevel-drive twins line up while you're about it? That was Ducati's reasoning behind the launch of its new 'Sport Classic' range in 2005. However, none of the three models - Smart 1000 LE, Sport 1000 and GT1000 - was in any way a 'replica'; all were thoroughly modern motorcycles with only the styling and colour scheme acknowledging the past. The trio used the air-cooled 1000DS v-twin engine, as found in a number of other Ducatis, which was housed in the Italian firm's trademark trellis frame. A production run of only 2,000 units was planned and few motorcycles of modern times have become as instantly collectible. This GT 1000 was purchased by the current vendor from a Mr Mike Kirkham of Oxford in 2020 (purchase paperwork on file). A rarely seen low mileage and well pampered example, including all the available factory touring accessories, the machine has been dry stored when not in use and currently displays a total of only 4,780 miles on the odometer (at the time of cataloguing/photography). The Ducati was last running in February 2025, and there is a walk-around video of the machine running, which can be found on the Bonhams website. This GT 1000 was first registered in UK and then exported to Guernsey in 2020. It comes with a Guernsey Registration Certificate for '16133' and copy of its old V5C registration document for 'GT10 DUK'. It should be noted that Vehicle Registration Number 'GT10 DUK' is associated with a 2020 'Export' marker in the HPI/DVLA database. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to the validity and status of this motorcycle's registration prior to bidding. The successful purchaser is responsible for applying to the DVLA to retrieve the vehicle's registration number. Additional documentation consists of some MoTs (most recent expired 2021); 2025 receipt for replacement cambelts and various other bills/invoices; a 2015 tax disc; Ducati owner's manuals; and an assortment of marque-related literature. The machine also comes with Ducati leather panniers x2 (plus key); tank cover and rear carrier bag, the original silencers; and sundry minor spares. Offered with key Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
