1995 Yamaha XT225 Serow Registration no. M69 URD Frame no. 4JG - 112210 Engine no. 1KH (see text) Introduced in 1985, Yamaha's immensely successful XT225 Serow ('mountain goat') is one of the more capable small-capacity trail bikes of recent times, not the least because if you dropped it there was a fighting chance you'd be able to pick it up again, unlike some of its weightier rivals. A dry weight of only 238lb (108kg) was claimed. Powered by a 223cc (later 249cc) air-cooled single-overhead-camshaft two-valve single producing 20bhp, delivered via a six-speed gearbox, the Serow was a big hit in its home country and also overseas. Initially sold only in Japan, the Serow was first offered in other markets in 1992 but was never officially sold in the UK; it remained in production, with only a short interruption (2016-2018) until 2020 when the 'Final Edition' models were rolled out, by which time an electric starter (1989) and fuel injection (2008) had been standardised together with numerous other mechanical and stylistic updates. A new, more modern Serow is scheduled for release in 2026. This particular Serow was used overseas before coming to the UK where it was first registered in June 2003. It should be noted that, although a '1KH' prefix is present, the rest of the engine number has not been stamped and no engine number is recorded in the V5C Registration document. The current odometer reading is 10,562 kilometres (6,563 miles) at the time of cataloguing/photography and the machine was last run on 30th April 2025. The private vendor advises us that heated handlebar grips have been fitted and that the (defective) indicators need attention (currently not working). Sold strictly as viewed, the machine is offered with a current V5C Registration Certificate. Offered with key Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
