1958 Triton 750cc 'Café Racer' Registration no. 916 UYY Frame no. N14 78499 Engine no. 6T 019460 This Triton consists principally of a Norton Dominator 99 wideline Featherbed frame, a modified pre-unit Triumph Thunderbird 650 engine, and a Burman gearbox. Both the frame and engine date from 1958. The engine features a Morgo 750cc conversion, twin-plug cylinder head, electronic ignition, and Amal Mk2 Concentric carburettors. Other notable features of this unique machine include alloy wheel rims, central oil tank, rear-set footrests, clip-on handlebars, belt primary drive, Commando clutch, Manx-style glassfibre fuel tank, and a 2-into-1 megaphone exhaust system. Acquired in 2017 by the current vendor and has formed part of their private collection since which they are now downsizing, this Triton had been kept indoors by the previous owner and not run for many years; however, it was started when our vendor first purchased it. Careful recommissioning, or possibly more extensive restoration, will be required before the machine returns to the road and thus it is sold strictly as viewed. Accompanying paperwork consists of a VMCC dating certificate, a selection of photographs and a current V5C Registration Certificate. It should be noted that the V5C still lists the engine capacity as 650cc. The age-related registration was issued in 2018. Key not required Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
