A suite of George III silver salvers, comprising a larger salver and two smaller the larger and one smaller, Thomas Hannam and Richard Mills, London 1764, the other smaller, maker's mark IC with pellet between, possibly John Carter, London 1767 Shaped-circular with gadroon rim on three scroll hoofed feet, engraved 'THE GIFT OF THE OWNERS OF THE ROYAL CHARLOTTE TO CAPt JOHN CLEMENTS 1763', within a scrolling ribbon, each with an engraving of the ship to the central field, the large salver depicts 'The Royal Charlotte' a side view of the three masted ship, finely engraved, with sailors on deck and climbing the rigging, the two smaller salvers depicting her sailing away with the stern to the fore, diameter 35.5cm and 30.5cm, weight 99oz. (3) Footnotes: The Royal Charlotte (East Indiaman) (1761 EIC ship) made three trips to India and the Red Sea for the East India Company between February 1762 and July 1770. In 1773 she was sold to the French East India Company. This lot appears to relate to the Royal Charlotte captained by John Clements. There are records of the Royal Charlotte sailing from the Downs to Bombay (Mumbai) and back again from 8 Jan 1765 to 4 August 1767. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
