An Irish George III two-handled cup and cover Richard Sawyer, Dublin 1827, with incuse retail mark of S&G Smith (Smyth) and Gamble Of urn form, the lid with cantering horse finial, with chased and embossed leaf and scallop banded decoration, the two bifurcated figural scroll handles with leaf cap and floral chasing and embossing, one side with C-scroll and floral cartouche with presentation engraving 'LEWES AUGUST RACES 1865 WELTER CUP WON BY REDOUBT', the other side with a scene of a horse race the upper body with heavy chased and embossed floral design, the lower body with heavy chased and embossed leaves, on a pedestal base with repeated chased and embossed scallop and leaves, raised on an ebonised pedestal base with two presentation plaques with presentation engraving 'THE DUKE OF MANCHESTER CUP HUNTINGDON 1870' the second engraved 'WON BY QUEEN OF THE VALLEY', height cup without presentation plinth 41.5cm, weight 82.1oz. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
