George Hardie (British, born 1944): Original Artwork For The Album Wish You Were Here By Pink Floyd, 1975, depicting The Handshake, pencil and felt-tip pen on paper pasted onto thin card, 10 1/4in x 12 1/4in (26cm x 31cm) Footnotes: George Hardie: George Hardie is a graphic designer and illustrator and is perhaps best known for his album cover art for design group Hipgnosis, with Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell. Some of Hardie's most famous work includes Led Zeppelin's 1969 debut album, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here, 10cc's Sheet Music and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway by Genesis. The imagery offered here appeared on the album as a sticker affixed to the black-coloured shrink-wrap that covered the album's cover imagery. It was inspired by the songs Welcome To The Machine and Have A Cigar, suggesting the use of a handshake as an often insincere or deceptive gesture. The mechanical hands also featured on the labels of vinyl album. Hardie's artwork for Led Zeppelin's eponymous debut album sold for a world-record price of $325,000 in June 2020. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
