Greg Lake: A Takamine EF-455S Flat-Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar, 1982, serial no. 82091014, black finish, body with abalone binding top and bottom, similar rosette, spruce top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides, fitted with Mimesis pickup, bound neck, ebony fingerboard with 'Tree Of Life' abalone inlay, headstock with three-a-side plated tuners and inlay, in shaped plush-lined hardshell case, with letter of provenance, CITES 24GBA10VHFMC5, guitar 41 1/4in (105cm) long Footnotes: Provenance: According to the statement accompanying this lot, this guitar is one of two matching guitars presented to Greg Lake and Gary Moore when in Japan, with Moore receiving the 12-string version. Lake then gifted this 6-string to someone involved with the production of his second, and final, solo album, Manoeuvres, released in July 1983. A photograph of Gary Moore with the 12-string is on www.groundguitar.com. In an interview with International Musician in November 1985, Gary Moore stated: 'I've got some Takamine guitars which I really like. I use a 12-string on stage...It's black, and they only made two of them so Greg Lake had one and I had one.' Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
