Sex Pistols: A Holidays In The Sun promotional poster for the single, 1977, Virgin Records VS191, printed on paper, artwork by Jamie Reid, signed by Julien Temple on the reverse in black marker, 27 3/4in x 28in (70.5cm x 71cm) Footnotes: Provenance: From the collection of Julien Temple, Sex Pistols collaborator and director of The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle in 1980, and later The Filth and the Fury in 2000. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Sex Pistols forming. The band are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a North American tour featuring original members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock, with Frank Carter filling in for Johnny Rotten. Julien Temple first met the Sex Pistols by chance in 1975 while walking through the London docklands. He heard a distant sound of a band rehearsing, he remembers; 'no other band was like that. This was a very, very new sensation.'. After chatting with the band briefly, Temple left, forgetting to ask what their name was. He subsequently spent weeks looking in music papers trying to see a name of a band that could possibly be them. As soon as Temple saw 'Sex Pistols' written in a magazine, he knew it had to be them. Temple's first film was a short documentary called Sex Pistols Number 1, which set out to show the rise of the band from 1976 to 1977, in a series of short clips from television interviews and gigs.
