A RARE GREENISH-GREY JADE 'LONGEVITY' INKSTONE 1600-1800 Unusually carved in the form of a cicada, the underside intricately decorated in varying levels of relief with formalised cloud scrolls, all supported on three raised points to provide a tripod stand, the stone of translucent light greyisy tone. 9.7cm (3 3/4in) long Footnotes: 1600至1800年 青灰玉蟬紋硯 Provenance: Acquired in Asia in April 2016 來源: 2016年4月入藏於亞洲 The cicada has long been esteemed for its symbolism of longevity and its connection to ancient cultures, evident in its frequent presence in burial practices and as a decorative motif on ancient bronzes. Revered since antiquity as a symbol of immortality and resurrection, the cicada also represents eternal youth, with a remarkable life cycle that can extend beyond seventeen years, distinguishing it from most other insects and solidifying its status as an emblem of enduring life. 自古以來,蟬便備受重視,蟬紋被廣泛應用於葬俗和古代青銅器紋飾,被尊為不朽與重生的象徵。此外,蟬與青春永駐和長壽相關,其生命週期可長達十七年以上,遠超大多數昆蟲。 Lot to be sold without reserve.
