His subjects include ancient houses, old streets, and ordinary people, where simplicity and sincerity are encapsulated. Defying the constraints of conventional categorisation, Do Xuan Doan seamlessly traverses the realms of realism, expressionism, surrealism, and abstraction. As one of the founders and leaders of the Young Artists Association in 1966, he played a pivotal role in encouraging innovation and experimentation among young artists, significantly influencing the development of modern Vietnamese art.
