AESOP Aesop's Fables, with His Life: in English, French & Latin, the English by Thomas Philipott, the French/Latin by Robert Codrington, additional engraved title-page (dated 1665, laid down), engraved frontispiece (bound before p.1), and 108 large engraved illustrations by Francis Barlow, 2 leaves (L1-2, pp.21-24) with text/image cut out and re-inserted, 4 leaves with small marginal archival repair, one leaf with long tear touching image closed with archival tape, additional ink title in upper margin of 4 pages, red morocco gilt by Riviere of Bath, elaborately tooled border to sides, gilt gauffered edges, spine faded [ESTC R21542], folio (300 x 190mm.), William Godbid for Francis Barlow, 1666; Fables, of Aesop and Other Eminent Mythologists: With Morals and Reflexions. By Sir Roger L'Estrange, second edition 'Corrected and Amended', engraved frontispiece, engraved portrait of L'Estrange, early tree calf, rebacked preserving original spine and red gilt morocco label [ESTC R11059], folio (300 x 185mm.), R. Sare, B. Took [etc.], 1694--The Fables of Aesop, and Others, with Designs on Wood by Thomas Bewick, second edition, with 'thumbprint' receipt (copy '631'), wood-engraved illustrations, contemporary tree calf gilt, rebacked preserving original spine, 8vo, Newcastle, E. Walker for T. Buyers' Premium and Charges


For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
