Two rare 19th century Benham and Froud lion copper jelly moulds together with a good collection of twenty four similar period Benham and Froud copper jelly moulds of elaborate circular and oval castle and ring form One with Benham and Froud oval strap mark, the others with orb and cross stamped factory marks, The lion moulds of oval form, the recumbent beasts with flowing manes, the plain plinth sides numbered '628' to one end, the circular castle moulds comprising an 'Alexandra Cross' or cruciform mould, a five point star mould numbered '466' , and eight others, an oval mould with pineapple decoration numbered '1A', and three other oval castle moulds, two circular castle ring moulds, the first with unusual chain style decoration, numbered '445' and another numbered '351', two low circular ring moulds, one with the Benham and Froud strap mark, numbered 521, the other numbered '525' and five low oval ring moulds comprising three numbered 64. 171, and 609, and two numbered 615, the lion moulds, 13.5cm high, 15.8cm and 16cm wide, 10.5cm and 10cm deep approximately, the other moulds, largest, 15.5cm, smallest 6.5cm high, the widest 13cm wide (26) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
