This skeletonized tourbillon pays homage to the Tuscan genius Galileo Galilei, whose groundbreaking discoveries paved the way for mechanical timepieces. The watch is the culmination of extensive research and development by the Laboratorio di Idee at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. The current example, often referred to as 'The Green Lantern', with its green highlights on the dial and flange create an intriguing color contrast that complements the black woodgrain appearance of the carbotech bezel beautifully. The case is crafted using advanced technology that allows it to be internally hollowed out, creating a highly intricate geometric cavity. This technology, known as Direct Metal Laser Sintering, constructs the case layer by layer with a fiber optic laser and powdered grade 5 titanium. Each layer fuses together to form a solid structure, reducing the overall weight by 40% compared to traditional titanium. The remarkable lightness of the watch is achieved through the meticulous skeletonization of its bridges, plates, and spring barrels, as well as the absence of a traditional dial. This design allows for the appreciation of intricate details on both sides of the watch, such as the winding and unwinding of the springs within each barrel, the complex interconnection of the wheelwork, and the rotation of the tourbillon cage. The skeletonized dial includes a night and day indicator for the GMT function at 3 o'clock, a power reserve indicator at 8 o'clock, and a running seconds indicator at 9 o'clock. A key difference in this new model, the PAM00768, is the placement of the power reserve indicator on the dial side rather than on the back of the movement. In excellent condition, the PAM00768 will be sure to thrill and may be the ultimate Paneristi grail timepiece.
