Royal Marine Light Infantry Portsmouth / Deal Band helmet plate circa 1905-30. A good die-stamped brass example. Crowned star bearing laurel wreath with scroll inscribed ""Gibraltar"" to the top and fouled anchor to the junction below. Within the wreath, a strap inscribed ""Per Mare Per Terram"". To the centre, a globe in relief. Nickel Prince of Waless plumes cypher mounted over the fouled anchor. Two loops to reverse. GC GvR cypher granted by General Order, R.Marines 44 of 1912 for their attendance on HM King George V on his voyage to India.
