96th Regiment of Foot Officers shoulder belt plate circa 1824-55. A splendid scarce example. Seeded gilt rectangular plate with burnished edges mounted with facetted silver Garter star on a gilt slip; mounted on the star, a gilt crowned Garter with silver floreated ""96"" to centre. Reverse retains original fixings comprising two hooks and two studs. VGC 96th Foot became 2nd Battalion The Manchester Regiment on 1st July 1881.
