A fine rare die-stamped white metal example. Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and circlet ÒSouth Yorkshire 1st Volr. Batn.Ó; voided centre bearing strung bugle with rose lodged between the cords. Below the crown, a scroll ÒDefence not DefianceÓ. Three loops to reverse. VGC

HQ at Wakefield. Previously 5th West Riding of Yorkshire RVC. Redesignated 1st VB. KingÕs Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in 1888.
