Royal Marine Light Infantry Victorian OfficerÕs shako plate circa 1855-66.
A very fine and extremely scarce example. Copper gilt crowned star mounted with a laurel wreath and strap ÒPer Mare Per TerramÓ; to the centre, a silver globe in relief with the continents highlighted in gilt. A silver fouled anchor mounted to the base of the crown closes the top of the laurel wreath; a silver strung bugle mounted on the star beneath the wreath. Retains both horizontal loops to reverse.
