Irish. Prince of WalesÕs Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) Victorian OfficerÕs helmet plate circa 1881-1901.

A fine and scarce gilt example. Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter; mounted on the black velvet centre, a silver Prince of WalesÕs plumes over two maple leaves with scroll below inscribed ÒCentral IndiaÓ. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a silver silver tri-part scroll inscribed ÒPrince of WalesÕs Leinster RegimentÓ. Two crude replacement loops to reverse. Generally VGC. (KK 283)

Following the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922, the regimental Colours were received by HM King George V on 12th June at St. GeorgeÕs Chapel, Windsor Castle; formal disbandment followed on 31st July, 1922.
