1st VB KingÕs Own Royal Lancaster Regiment Victorian OfficerÕs helmet plate circa 1883-1901.

A fine and scarce silver plated example. Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the crimson velvet centre mounted with Lion of England. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed ÒRoyal Lancaster Regt.Ó with supplementary scroll below Ò1st Volunteer BattalionÓ . Three loops to reverse. Pile of velvet worn otherwise VGC.

Formed 1859, 1875 consolidated as 10th Lancashire RVC, redesignated 1st VB KingÕs Own in 1883. HQ at Ulverston.Provenance. Ex Hugh King Collection, Bosleys June 2010, Lot 61.
