1st VB The Prince Albert?s (Somerset Light Infantry) Victorian Officer?s helmet plate circa 1881-1901. A fine and scarce silvered plated example. Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the black velvet centre mounted with gilt mural crowned strung bugle. Mounted on the base of the wreath a scroll inscribed ?Somersetshire Light Infantry? with supplementary scroll below ?1st Volunteer Battalion?. Three loops to reverse. Wires securing bugle absent, left side of scroll sprung otherwise VGC HQ at Bath Provenance. Ex Hugh King Collection. Bosleys December 2006. Lot 33.
