Irish: Westmeath Rifles Militia Victorian glengarry badge circa 1874-81. Good die-stamped brass (originally blackened). Crowned curled bugle horn with shamrock to centre, all resting on straight tri-part Gaelic scroll. (KK 1300) Three loops GC Raised in 1793 at Mullingar as Westmeath Militia, redesignated Westmeath Rifles in 1855 and became 9th Bn. Rifle Brigade on 1st July 1881.
