A fine and very scarce die-stamped brass example. Crowned star bearing oak wreath and circlet Domine Dirige Nos superimposed on crossed sword and sceptre; 7 to voided centre. To the base of the wreath, the City Arms surmounted by a scroll City of London . Three loops to reverse. VGC (KK 1825) 3rd London Rifle Volunteer Corps raised in 1861 and became 7th (City of London) Bn. The London Regiment in 1908. This is the actual piece photographed as No. 1825 in Head-dress Badges of the British Army .
