An exceedingly fine and scarce example. Rich gilt star with silver saltire overlay mounted with pierced gilt Collar of The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle resting on a scroll inscribed “The Royal Scots”. Within the Collar, an oval inscribed “Nemo me impune lacessit.”, St. Andrew and Cross to the centre. The Collar and St. Andrew set on a rich green translucent enamel ground. Reverse retains both original loops. VGC
Regimental history states also worn on the Foreign Service helmet by Officers of the 2nd Battalion 1890-1909
