Canadian 25th Elgin Infantry Officer’s helmet plate circa 1900-03.
A very fine and exceedingly scarce example. Rich gilt eight pointed star, the topmost point displaced by an open-work Guelphic Crown; on the star, within a maple wreath a circlet inscribed “Elgin Infantry XXV” with beaver and tree to black velvet centre. Mounted above the circlet, a silver beaver; on the base of the wreath a silver bi-part scroll inscribed ‘Officium Primum’. Three loops to reverse. VGC
