Description
A grooved decoration large chest, Renaissance, juniper (or cedar), front and sides with grooved decoration filled with black mass (gall nut) centre with the arms of the kings of England, Scotland and Ireland, topped by a royal crown and crest, supported by a crowned lion and unicorn, as they were used between 1603 and 1707, two classicist arches containing inside a “double-headed eagle”, interior with punched tops of the boards, Portuguese - Azores, 16th C. (4th quarter), missing front slat at the end of the top, missing socle, missing interior pidgeonhole, missing two of the hinges replaced by two other new ones, other minor faults and defects, traces of woodworms. Notes: this type of chest was studied in FERRÃO, Bernardo - "Mobiliário Português - dos primórdios ao maneirismo - volume quarto - Anexos".
