Note: Neil MacPherson studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1974-78, and then at Jordanhill College of Education from 1978-79. He lives and works in Caithness, in the remote Scottish Highlands. MacPherson paintings are inspired by the changing seasons, history and folklore of the Highland's dramatic landscape. His paintings involve a beautiful narrative that draws in the viewer, curious to discover more about this surreal, poetic world he creates. He has won numerous awards including the Aberdeen Artists Society, Shell Expro Award (twice); Royal Scottish Academy, Young Artist; Royal Overseas League Commonwealth Exhibition, Premier Award; Scotland on Sunday, Mayfest Award (twice); Royal Scottish Academy, London Scottish Award and London Highland Award. This is a unique voice, one that is growing in confidence, one that makes him one of the most important painters working in Scotland today." - Gordon Brown, Browns Gallery
